Owen researches the missing side
Owen notices that a huge tree has fallen in the raptor pin and is now leaning against a set of stairs. He wants to make sure this doesn't pose a threat until they can get it repaired. The tree is 174 feet tall and is leaning against a 152 foot staircase. The angle the stairs make with the trees is 43 degrees. Owen wants to find out the distance from the base of the tree to the base of the stairs without actually getting in the Raptor pin. Using law of cosines, find the distance from base to base.
Claire finds the missing angle
Claire is looking at the Indominous Rex exhibit and notices the Dinosaur has a tree pushed against a leaning wall. Concerned, Claire finds the measurements of the tree and wall in a data base and calculates the distance from the base of the tree to the base of the wall to be 180 feet. The tree towers at 190 feet and the wall is 150 feet. Claire wants to find the angle the base of the wall makes with the ground in order to ensure visitor safety. Find the missing angle using the information given and the law of cosines.
